Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has warned the Nana Addo-led government to stop the subtle attempts at removing Electoral Commission (EC) Boss, Charlotte Osei, from office.
The process of investigating petitions brought against the EC Boss and her two deputies by some workers of the commission, Koku said forms part of the subtle attempts by the government to remove Charlotte Osei from office.
“We won’t allow Nana Addo and his government to frustrate the EC boss and her deputies. They should not dare touch her else they will face our wrath,” he warned.
Reports indicate that there will be a hearing into the alleged power abuse and corruption scandals at the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday, December 11, 2017.
EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei and her deputies, Georgina Opoku-Amankwah in charge of Corporate Services together with Amadu Sulley who is also in charge of Operations at the Commission are expected to appear before a five-member Committee chaired by a Supreme Court Justice to respond to separate petitions filed against them.
The EC Commissioners came under intense criticisms after some workers at the commission leveled corruption against them.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday, the Deputy General Secretary urged them to use the appropriate means and make sure that the right thing is done in removing her from office.
The NDC, he noted will frustrate all attempts by the NPP to oust the EC chair.
