Hot audio: ‘Claimants to Ga stool don’t respect themselves’

-

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister has launched a vitriolic attack on self-styled individuals holding themselves at Ga Mantse.

According to Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, the elders have subjected the Ga State which hosts Ghana capital, Accra to international ridicule following their inability to install a paramount chief.

The confusion over the enstoolment of a Ga Mantse continues unabated, as key and influential members of the various royal families and interest groups stake their claim.

An event to introduce Nii Tackie Oblie II as another claimant to the Stool was disrupted by some angry youth in Accra on Wednesday October 25, 2017 which came barely three days after a new Ga Mantse had been inducted into the Ga Traditional Council.

This brings the number of people claiming to be the legitimate Ga Mantse to four after the death of Nii Amugi 15 years ago.

This is been a cause of concern to the Akufo-Addo government who are at a crossroads over which of the four to pay homage to.

To prevent any confusion, he stated that President Akufo-Addo will not pay homage to all claimants of the Ga stool.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Ishmael Ashitey who has tried to broker peace has revealed President Akufo-Addo will not recognize any among the four until the Ghana Traditional Council is able to elect the legitimate one.

But on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Thursday, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo advised government to ignore the Ga chiefs.

“Former Presidents Mills and Mahama refused to go call on any Ga Mantse because they were fighting so if the people don’t respect themselves, why should you”.

“I will advise them to go ahead and do their work and ignore them because no matter the advice the Regional Minister will give them, they will not listen. I have gone through this and I know what it is” he fumed.

Lion as he is popularly called cited how he begged then President Mahama not to make him Regional Minister “because know the trouble ahead”.

He urged politicians to stay out of the dispute because there is no end in sight given the entrenched positions taken by parties involved.

“If they live together and are happy with themselves we will also be happy as politicians” he added.
