A 30-year-old taxi driver, Yaw Amoako has been shot by armed robbers at Kasoa Millennium City with his Hyundai Atos car with the registration number GW 9666-16 snatched from him.
According to an eyewitness, Kwesi Owusu, the robbers shot the driver twice in his left leg after he refused to hand over the car keys to them around 7:30pm Monday evening.
He said the driver Yaw Amoako was rushed to the Kasoa Polyclinic but his condition worsened so was transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching hospital.
Meanwhile the Millennium City District Police commander ASP David Amevor who confirmed the incident to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the taxi driver is responding to treatment at Korle-Bu government hospital.
“Around 7:30pm two men picked him up. When they got to an area they took his keys and shot him in the leg. The bullet hit his left thigh too. He was taken to the Kasoa polyclinic but later transferred to Korle Bu hospital…” he said.
DSP Amevor said the police will thoroughly investigate the matter and urged the public to support the police to in order to bring perpetrators to book.
“We couldn’t find the car. We will investigate and make sure everything is done to find the car and make sure the suspects are arrested” he said.
