Five commercial drivers in Agona Swedru in the Central region have been suspended by the Progressive Transport Owners Association for drunk driving.
The drivers, who are said to also be engaged in immoral acts such as fornication have been suspended three months.

This means the drivers who ply Agona Swedru-Accra road are banned from operating in the name of PROTOA on that stretch.

The Central Regional Chairman of PROTOA, Nana Yaw Fayah, says the conduct of the affected drivers does not only put lives of passengers in danger but also affects the reputation of the union.
According to him, some of the drivers are engaged in illicit sexual activities contrary to the by-laws and guidelines of the Union.

He told Adom FM’s FM’s “Dwaso Nsem” on Friday that the disciplinary measures were taken to sanitize the driving profession and also promote discipline on the roads.
He maintained, drivers are like doctors who are entrusted with the lives of people and therefore have a responsibility to protect them at all the time.
