The Volta Region is set to witness yet another music sensation as one of its own is about to carry the region’s musical torch with a new single dubbed Agbelitoto.
Agbelitoto is the new track by musician, Horla Deka who has been working quietly on the sides until now.
Agbelitoto means fufu or pounded cassava, a local food that most Ghanaians can relate to.
Horla Deka was born as Carl Sommy to Voltarian parents in Ghana.
His interest in music started in basic school where he joined his school’s choir.
Although he wasn’t really interested, his teachers saw his natural gift and passion in music that needed to be cultivated.
His passion grew even further in high school where he started spitting lyrics during entertainment sessions.
After senior high school, he joined the Black Shaolin Monkz (Asasiase) where he only concentrated on doing underground hardcore rap music.
He later realized that underground music wasn’t reaching the audience that needed to hear his music and provided avenues for him to further cultivate his talents.
In 2005, he auditioned and joined the last 2 music group where he was able to go through Hammers laborious grooming process to refine his lyrics and vocals behind the mic.
In 2006 he was able to record three hit tracks and also recorded some tracks at the Ashanti International Records Studios at Dansoman with the stage name Grave Digga.
The album didn’t get enough airplay so he hibernated to study exactly what the fans needed and what would authentically represent his natural born talents.
Horla Deka is produced by his brother, Fortune Sommy who is based in the United States of America.
