The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE)for Ho Central who doubles as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, Bosson R.K Divine has presented start-up kits to over 250 apprentices.
This follows the completion of their six months intensive skill training.
The kits were financed by the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) in collaboration with the Mastercard foundation.
The donation seeks to help the beneficiaries to establish their own shops to improve their livelihoods as part of government’s initiative to support private sector employment.
The beneficiaries were trained in tailoring, dressmaking, hair dressing, pastries, baking, and many others , were presented certificates, sewing machines, hair dryers, bakery ovens, and other equipment.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Mr Divine explained that the initiative is to equipped the youth who are willing to go into apprenticeship to have their own handy work.
He stated the government is committed to support such people and will continue to rollout good policy initiatives to support artisans and other self-employed individuals to reduce poverty level.
Mr. Seth Klutse, who delivered his speech on behalf of the Volta Regional Director of the GEA, Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, at the graduation ceremony, said their outfit facilitated the creÂation of over 109,471 jobs with 67 per cent benefiting women across the country.
He said empowerÂing the youth was an ideal way for them to learn a trade and be economically independent on their own.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Mr Divine, the government and Mastercard foundation fir their sponsorship packages for their training and further establishment of their own shops.
They pledged to rally behind the government by voting massively for Mr. Bosson R.K Divine and Dr Bawumia in the upcoming presidential and Parliamentary elections, for them to continue with the good policies and programmes for others to benefit.
