Ghana has not won the trophy since 1982 and hopes are high for them to break the long-standing jinx.

The Black Stars will face Guinea-Bissau in a must-win clash on Tuesday that will determine the Stars’ fate in the competition.

Many Ghanaians are skeptical about victory following a slow start marked by two draws, against Benin and Cameroon.

The Black Stars also hold the record of most consecutive semi-final appearances with six straight between 2008 and 2017 and hopes to break that jinx by winning this year’s competition.

Mr Jacobs is very optimistic that the Stars will win the cup in spite of the weak performance of the players so far.

He explained that, in 1982 when the Black Stars won the African Cup in Libya, they had a slow start so there is no cause for alarm.
