The High Court has granted the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) application for a writ of mandamus, compelling the Electoral Commission (EC) to collate and declare results for disputed parliamentary constituencies
The outstanding constituencies are Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South.
The court directed the EC to complete the collation of two polling station results in Tema Central and declare the winner by January 6, 2025.
Additionally, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been instructed to provide armed security for the collation and declaration processes to ensure a smooth and secure exercise.
The NPP welcomed the decision, describing it as a victory for electoral accountability. The ruling underscores the need for transparency and fairness in resolving election disputes.
The EC is expected to adhere to the court’s timeline, bringing clarity to the outcome of these key constituencies.
