Don’t feel guilty for being less productive during the lockdown
In light of the global pandemic and the damage it has caused, most of us have been quarantined in our homes for over two months now and have been doing everything possible to keep ourselves occupied and productive. From workout challenges to TikTok dance-offs to discovering the chefs in us, we have tried it all. While many of us have found our true passions during this time of quarantine, most of us are still figuring things out. Some of us are doing things not by choice, but because we saw our friends or some celebrity doing it on social media. This not only encourages other people to follow aimlessly but also overwhelms the people, especially those, who do not care at all. For all those people still figuring out what to do during this quarantine, here’s how you can feel less guilty about not being productive in this time of crisis.
02/7Stop comparing yourself to others
The first thing you need to stop doing is comparing yourself with others. Just because your friend or someone on social media is doing something productive, doesn’t mean you need to get down on the battleground too. Whether quarantined or not, you should never compare yourself with others, for the simple reason that everyone is blessed with one’s own capabilities and potential. By comparing yourself, you’re either going to get disheartened or feel bad about yourself.
03/7Distance yourself from social media
While social media is one of the many things that has helped us through this tough time, it is also one of the reasons why you have this fear of missing out on things. Social media is the source that tells you about the productive things people are doing, making you feel useless and incompetent. This is why you need to maintain some distance with your social media and focus more on the things that give you positivity.
04/7Don’t rush the process
Everyone is meant for something special in life. Not everyone works at the same pace or has the same passion. So rather than rushing on from one thing to the next, try figuring out your process and adjust into it. One this you must ensure is to enjoy the journey, rather than the destination.
05/7Know what productivity means to you
For each one of us, ‘productivity’ may mean different. Someone else’s idea of productivity may not be the same as yours and therefore, it is best to find out where your productivity lies. It can be something as simple as watching a movie or listening to a song. Productivity cannot be limited to something huge. It can be the simplest of things that gives you the grandest of smiles.
06/7Stay positive rather than productive
One of the most important things is to stay positive at all times. What we need to understand is that we are all in a state of crisis and not being unproductive should be the last thing we should be worried about. Positivity is something that will get us through this rough patch in our lives. Productivity will follow thereafter.
07/7It’s never too late
Surely, you still feel guilty about not being productive during this quarantine, but look at the brighter side, you still have so much time. Unfortunately, this period of pandemic doesn’t seem to show any signs of getting over, but it sure gives you more time to reflect and figure out what you want to do. So instead of feeling guilty, how about you explore.
