Hearts of Oak are reportedly on the verge of signing experienced midfielder Mubarak Wakaso for the second half of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The 34-year-old has been a free agent since January 2024 after parting ways with Chinese club Shenzhen FC.
His last competitive match was in August 2023, as he struggled with recurring knee injuries that kept him sidelined for over a year.
Although dealing with some lingering knee discomfort, Wakaso has maintained a personal training regimen and is now ready to join the Phobian club.
Throughout his distinguished career, Wakaso has played for top European teams, including Villarreal, Panathinaikos, Espanyol, and Rubin Kazan.
He has also been a key figure for the Ghana national team, earning 70 caps and scoring 13 goals, notably winning the Golden Boot at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Currently, sitting sixth in the Ghana Premier League, Hearts of Oak are looking to strengthen their squad under head coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
The club is hopeful that Wakaso’s vast experience will not only provide leadership but also inspire their younger players as they aim for a strong finish to the season.
