Hearts of Oak fans turned on head coach Aboubakar Ouattara after losing to newcomers Basake Holy Stars in their opening match of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians played host to the debutant side at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Despite home advantage, a 2nd-minute header by Prince Tweneboah sealed a 1-0 victory for Basake Holy Stars, leaving Hearts of Oak empty-handed.
At the final whistle, frustrated fans voiced their anger over what they called a subpar performance, with many calling for the sacking of Ouattara.
The coach, who took charge on a two-year contract midway through last season, now faces mounting pressure just one game into the new campaign.
Supporters fear that if their team can’t secure a win against a newly promoted side, they might struggle against more established teams, including arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.
