Hearts of Oak suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Dreams FC on Saturday night in their Matchday 24 clash of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
A first-half strike from Abdul Razak Salifu proved decisive, earning Dreams FC their first victory over Hearts since 2021.
Despite dominating possession, the Phobians struggled to break down a well-organized Dreams FC defense in the opening half. They managed four shots on target but were denied by an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Gidios Aseako.
After the break, Hearts of Oak intensified their attacking efforts, firing 12 goal attempts. However, poor finishing continued to haunt them.
Dreams FC, on the other hand, did not register a single shot in the second half but relied on a disciplined defensive display to protect their lead. Aseako emerged as the hero, making five crucial saves to secure the win.
The result marked just the second away victory for Dreams FC in their last 17 attempts, lifting them to 12th place on the league table with 24 points—six clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak remain two points behind league leaders Asante Kotoko, who earlier settled for a 1-1 draw against Samartex.
The defeat was Hearts’ fifth in the league this season and their sixth across all competitions. Looking ahead, they will travel to Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park for their Matchday 25 fixture, while Dreams FC prepare for an away clash against Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
