Hearts of Oak coach refuses to blame players after defeat at Asante Kotoko

-

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has refrained from criticizing his players following their narrow 1-0 loss to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the Matchday 13 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians, who have enjoyed an impressive away record this season, saw their streak come to an end at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The game’s only goal came from Albert Amoah, who capitalized on a mix-up between Kelvin Osei Assibey and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare to secure victory for the Porcupine Warriors.

Speaking after the match, the Ivorian tactician shared his disappointment but maintained that he would not single out any player for blame.

“I don’t want to blame any player but when you are big and go to the supermarket, don’t bring any small attackers and that is the problem,” Ouattara said.

The defeat leaves Hearts of Oak in 7th position on the league table with 19 points. They will aim to bounce back when they host Berekum Chelsea in their Matchday 14 clash at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
