Hearts of Oak coach blames poor attack for MTN FA Cup exit

-

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has pointed to his team’s lack of efficiency in attack as the key reason for their elimination from the MTN FA Cup.

Despite dominating possession, the Phobians failed to break the deadlock in regulation time, as their attacking struggles continued against Golden Kicks.

Their missed opportunities proved costly, allowing the lower-tier side to push the game into a penalty shootout.

In the tense spot-kick battle at the Legon Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak fell short, suffering a surprising 4-3 defeat, ending their FA Cup journey in disappointment.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite Show, Ouattara expressed frustration over his team’s wastefulness in front of goal.

“We squandered many chances. Our attacking machinery was weak,” the Ivorian manager said.

With their FA Cup ambitions now over, Hearts of Oak must regroup and turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League, which resumes on March 7. The club currently sits fourth on the league table with 33 points from 19 matches.
