Health Minister discharged from UGMC, recovering at home

-

Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu has been discharged from the hospital where he was being treated for Covid-19, the Information Minister has disclosed.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told journalists at a press briefing that the Health Minister will now continue his recovery at home.

He said he had spoken to Mr Agyeman Manu who confirmed his discharge from the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.

There were earlier contradicting reports that the Minister had not contracted the virus and was only ‘resting’ at the UGMC.

However, on Sunday, President Nana Akufo-Addo in his 11th address to the nation on the administration’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, confirmed that Agyeman-Manu had “contracted the virus in the line of duty.”

He called on Ghanaians to pray for the Health Minster and all others who are being treated for the novel coronavirus disease.

Agyeman-Manu expressed his gratitude to the President and other well-wishers.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the President and all Ghanaians for your well wishes and prayers. By the grace of God, I’m responding to treatment,” he said in a post on his Facebook wall.
