Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has opened up about his struggles in the Nigerian movie industry, citing blackmail and jealousy from colleagues as major challenges in his career.

Speaking on the Nollywood Hardcore podcast with host Emma Labista, Anuku revealed that some industry players were envious of his success and allegedly resorted to diabolical means to tarnish his reputation.

According to him, certain individuals used images from movie sets to spread false rumors about his mental health, leading to a decline in job opportunities.

He lamented that this blackmail severely affected his career and set him back for several years.

Frustrated by the situation, Anuku relocated to Ghana, where he worked under the creative arts sector during President Akufo-Addo’s tenure, following his involvement in the president’s campaign.

The actor also criticized the Nigerian film industry’s lack of openness and growth, stating that many actors and filmmakers failed to embrace versatility. He described them as hypocrites who refused to learn and evolve, limiting their creativity and the industry’s progress.

Despite his challenges, Anuku remains an iconic figure in Nollywood, with fans continuing to celebrate his work.
