The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Klottey Korley Assembly and the Osu Traditional Council, has officially commissioned the first phase of the Accra Leisure and Recreational Park, popularly known as Geese Park.

The park boasts modern facilities, including a snack shop, restaurant, event center, children’s playground, zoo, and a skating park.

It will also be connected to the Asomdwoe Park in Osu, forming part of the growing network of tourist attractions in the Osu area.

The commissioning ceremony saw attendance from key tourism stakeholders, including former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Andrew Egyapa Mercer; Seth Adjei Baah; Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman; Koku Anyidoho; and other board members and staff of the GTA.

In his address, former Minister Andrew Egyapa Mercer described the park’s commissioning as a landmark achievement for Ghana.

He highlighted the pivotal role the GTA has played in advancing the country’s tourism sector over the past eight years under the leadership of Akwasi Agyeman.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman outlined the GTA’s vision of leveraging tourism to showcase Ghana’s rich culture and narrate its history.

He noted that the Geese Park is part of a series of redevelopment initiatives, including the Kwame Nkrumah Museum and the Nationalism Park, undertaken through partnerships with the Ministry of Tourism and other agencies.

The Geese Park’s commissioning marks a significant milestone in Accra’s transformation into a vibrant hub for leisure and recreation, further enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.
