The Chairman of the Greater Accra NDC, Emmanuel Ashie Moore, has issued a stern warning to applicants vying for Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) positions.
He emphasized that applicants must prepare thoroughly for the vetting process, especially if they previously campaigned against NDC parliamentary candidates who are now Members of Parliament (MPs).
The vetting committee will scrutinize such applicants, questioning their actions and their ability to collaborate with the new MPs.
Ashie Moore further explained that some applicants, including party Chairmen and Secretaries, had strained relationships with their Parliamentary candidates, and if they were appointed as MMDCEs, they would be signatories to the MPs’ Common Funds.
The committee will need to ensure these applicants can work effectively with the MPs to foster development in their respective areas.
The Chairman also noted that some individuals had run for Parliament without exerting much effort, possibly with the intention of applying for MMDCE positions if they lost.
The vetting process will also scrutinize such candidates, ensuring that only those who can work well with MPs are selected.
When asked whether individuals who previously had issues with MPs would be disqualified, Ashie Moore could not provide a guarantee.
He stated that their performance during the vetting process would ultimately determine their eligibility.
