Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte, has confirmed that Accra Great Olympics will no longer be invited to any future football tournaments he organizes due to what he describes as disrespect.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Nii Ayi-Bonte expressed frustration over Great Olympics’ decision to decline his invitation to the 2023 Homowo Cup.

He has since cut ties with the club, which had traditionally competed in the annual event against Hearts of Oak.

“I will never invite Olympics to any football game again due to the disrespect they showed by not honouring my invitation last year,” Nii Ayi-Bonte stated.

As a result, the 2024 Homowo Cup will see a change in the lineup. Instead of Great Olympics, Hearts of Oak will face Hearts of Lions.

The match is set to take place on Sunday, August 11, 3: at the Accra Sports Stadium.
