Minister for Education, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh has hinted the government will soon construct six new modern Senior High Schools (SHSs) across Ghana.
According to him, the first of the six schools would be constructed at Akyem Abomosu in the Atewa West Constituency of the Eastern region.
Addressing an inter- denominational church service, organised by the local council of churches in Atewa West Constituency, NAPO, as he is popularly known in the political circles, said the contract has already been awarded with work to begin soon.
“The contract has already been awarded to two construction firms; Antarctic Construction and Atlanta to commence work within a month,” he said.
He added: “The six new SHSs will have classroom blocks, administration blocks, teachers and other staff bungalows, dinning and assembly halls, ICT centres, science resource centres and every infrastructure that makes an SHS a model one.”
The Member of Parliament for Atewa West Constituency, Hon Amoako Atta said he has facilitated many developmental projects not limited to roads but schools and electrification projects as well.
“Government has approved the construction of a new district hospital at Atewa West to cater for the health needs of the people and an arable land has been secured for the construction of the hospital,” he said.
