Gov’t seeks strategic partnerships for National Airline – Transport Minister

-

Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has disclosed that the government is actively pursuing strategic partnerships to establish a national airline.

He acknowledged that current economic challenges present a significant barrier to independently executing the project.

Addressing staff at the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Nikpe recognized the financial constraints the country is facing, making it unfeasible for the state to solely fund the launch of a new national carrier.

“You are aware that we inherited an economy that is challenged, and for now, we cannot establish a national airline alone. So we are looking for a partnership,” he stated.

He emphasized that partnerships require thorough assessment of potential collaborators to ensure a lasting and reliable national airline.

Mr. Nikpe hinted that a shortlist of potential partners will be announced soon as the government works to ensure the new carrier is sustainable and competitive in the long term.
