Govt rolls out knowledge and skills bank to transform education systems

The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has announced the rollout of the Ghana Knowledge and Skills Bank, a comprehensive digital portal containing over 10,000 textbooks and educational resources.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize Ghana’s educational system and align it with international standards.

Speaking at a ceremony to donate over 7,500 books to the Christina Akua Brago Diawuo Library and Technology Hub in Akim Oda, Birim Central Municipality, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for educational advancement.

She emphasized that with the right investment in education, Ghana is well-positioned to play a significant role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Ghana Knowledge and Skills Bank, which is funded by the World Bank, is designed to be a repository of educational materials for all levels, from primary school textbooks to university literature.

This portal is expected to be officially launched soon, providing students and educators with easy access to a vast array of learning resources.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda Constituency and Deputy Minister for Health, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to embrace reading as a means to expand their knowledge and skills.

He expressed his gratitude to Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful for her generous contribution to the community, which he believes will significantly enhance educational opportunities in the region.
