New York: Government is to set up about 10 toll free hotlines, dubbed as ‘Hope Hot Line’ to assist people get the psychological and emotional assistance necessary to lead normal lives.
The toll free lines are to provide rapid response to deal with social vices such as psychological and emotional challenges that are pushing most young people to be suicidal.
Gender and Social Protection Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has been holding bilateral talks with her counterpart, Danish minister for Equal opportunities and Nordic Cooperation, Karen Ellemann on funding opportunities for these initiatives.
Key among the areas to benefit is a shelter for needy and vulnerable people as well as effective advocacy and education against early marriage; human trafficking, gender based violence among others.
The gender minister says her ministry intends to work on a strategy with the assistance and collaboration of other ministries on the sustainability of these initiatives in a multi sectorial approach.
The Danish minister, pledged the commitment of Danish government to support Ghana in its quest to ensure equal opportunities of growth for its citizens in addition to the existing projects being undertaken in Ghana.
Ghana’s delegation to the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women, CSW is being led by the Gender and Social Protection Minister.
Among the delegation include, Members of Parliament, representatives from various political parties, gender advocacy groups, departments and agencies.
