Member of Parliament for the Upper West Akim Constituency, Derek Bekoe has accused president Akufo-Addo of playing a vital role in encouraging people to invest with Menzgold.
According to the MP, the president encouraged Ghanaians by endorsing the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah when they met somewhere last year.
Readers would recall that the Menzgold CEO’s Zylofon Cash entity finalised a deal to sponsor the Ghana Premier League in a transaction worth $2million.
Shortly after finalising that deal, Nana Appiah visited the presidency where the president commended him for his work.

“I had the singular privilege to welcome Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) of Zylofon music and Menzgold to the Jubilee house. It was quite inspiring listening to his success story and his impact on the youth of our country. Ghana is working again,” the president said.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show on Thursday, Mr Bekoe said the endorsement from the president was what encouraged more Ghanaians to invest with the gold dealership firm even when the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) had, on several occasion, warned Ghanaians.
“An endorsement from the boss of the country is the kind any prospective investor will look up to and that was why NAM1’s business moved up to about 75% so there is no way this government can break the linkage between it and what has happened,” he noted

He opined that government should have ensured that the customers be catered for when SEC and Bank of Ghana halted the activities of menzgold.
