Government urged to pay special attention to dental care

Government has been urged to pay special attention to dental care in rural areas where services of such nature are most needed.

This came up when a team of dental specialists from the British Dental Health Foundation in collaboration with the dental unit of the Hohoe Hospital and University of Allied Sciences, Ho conducted a free dental outreach in the Volta Region from the 30th of April – 4th May 2018.

Jonmoore International, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives, supported this outreach as part of activities to mark its 20th anniversary this year.

The medical team is calling for increased government funding to allow for cheaper and more frequent check-ups, helping to reduce mouth cancer rates.

They stated that special attention is urgently needed to solve the many problems attributed to dental care in the country.

“Government needs to pay special attention to and also invest in the dental care in the country as it is one very important health issue which lacks the needed attention“, Dr. George Brown, Head of the Dental Team from the UK indicated.

He also urged organizations to help fund the dental care outreaches in communities just as Jonmoore International is doing to enable persons across the country benefit.

According to Miss Amma Abrokwah, the Corporate Manager of Jonmoore International, the Company as part of its CSR has for the past 20 years contributed immensely to society as part of its commitment to help improve the socio-economic development of communities. The company will be embarking on a series of activities to celebrate this milestone.

The dental outreach fell within the Company’s CSR objectives and thus, the support.

From Miss Abrokwah, one of Jonmoore’s CSR projects is the Eugemot Foundation at Ve-Kolenu which has Eugemot orphanage and Peggy Good school under its management. The 32 children of Eugemot Orphanage benefited from this dental outreach.

The aim of this outreach was to reach out to communities in the country who had need of dental care.

The outreach was carried out in the Hohoe municipality, Tsito and Abutia in the Ho West municipality.
