Government sets up 35 PWDs in North Dayi District

-

The government through the disability fund has set up some thirty-five persons with disabilities (PWDS)in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The Fund which is a component of the district common aims to support, protect, and enhance the socio-economic lives of (PWDs).

The thirty-five beneficiaries took home ovens, fufu pounding machines, groceries, industrial sewing machines, farm inputs, and movable cassava mills. They were provided GH₵200 to transport the start-up kits home.

The District Chief Executive for North Dayi, Kudjoh Attah challenged the beneficiaries to set up small enterprises with the kits provided to enable them to earn a living.

This he believes would complement the government’s efforts of ensuring PWDs have decent livelihoods by becoming financially independent and self-sustaining.

“The age-long practice of sharing peanuts to beneficiaries has resorted to many always begging for alms for livelihood. Today, there is a gradual paradigm shift to making them self-reliant. Thanks to the visionary and caring President we have” he remarked

Mr. Atta admonished the beneficiaries to desist from selling the startup kits and assured them of his continuous advocacy and support to ensure that the poor and vulnerable in society, especially PWDs enjoy a dignified life.
