The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has resolved the issues surrounding the migration of staff from the Colleges of Education to the University Grades Structure, following concerns raised by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), which had led to industrial action.
According to a press release dated January 27, 2025, the FWSC, in collaboration with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, formed a Migration Committee on August 29, 2024, to address the matter.
The committee has successfully resolved the outstanding issues related to the migration process.
The FWSC also announced the payment of research allowance top-ups to staff at various Colleges of Education, with Akrokerri College of Education already receiving its funds.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to addressing any post-migration challenges and emphasized the importance of ensuring the smooth operation of the Colleges of Education. It called on CETAG to call off its strike and allow academic work to resume. The FWSC stressed the need for continued dialogue and collaboration to find mutually beneficial solutions.
The FWSC assured stakeholders of its dedication to transparency and addressing grievances to safeguard the interests of education in Ghana.
