Government moves to extradite former MASLOC boss from U.S. to serve 10-year sentence – Dep. AG

-

The Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, has disclosed that government is actively pursuing the extradition of Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu, former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), who is currently residing in the United States.

Ms Attionu, sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Accra High Court in April 2024 for stealing, procurement breaches, and causing a GH¢90 million financial loss to the state, is being sought to face justice in Ghana.

According to Mr Tuah-Yeboah, government is working closely with U.S. authorities to facilitate her return.

“We know where she is, and we have initiated the extradition process. Once the legal steps are completed, she will be brought back to Ghana to begin her sentence,” he stated on Citi FM.

He further explained that the government is waiting on the U.S. courts to process the necessary documents to ensure Attionu’s return.

Ms Attionu was charged in January 2019 alongside former MASLOC Operations Manager, Daniel Axim, for 78 counts of stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss.
