GNECC urges new GES boss to decentralize teacher postings

-

The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has called on the newly appointed Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, to prioritize decentralizing teacher deployment to ensure more effective teaching and learning across the country.

In a warm welcome, Bernice Mpere-Gyekye, National Coordinator of GNECC, praised Professor Davis for his impressive credentials in education.

She acknowledged his wealth of experience and expressed confidence in his ability to drive positive changes within the education sector.

During an interview with Adom News, Madam Mpere-Gyekye emphasized the need for a more balanced distribution of teachers between urban and rural areas, urging the GES to adopt a more localized approach to deployment.

This, she believes, will help address disparities in education and create a more equitable learning environment for all students, regardless of their geographic location.

The call for decentralization comes amid ongoing concerns about the unequal distribution of teachers, which has often led to overcrowded classrooms in urban areas while schools in rural communities remain understaffed.

By decentralizing the process, GNECC hopes to improve the quality of education nationwide and ensure that every child, no matter where they live, has access to well-trained and motivated teachers.
