The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has hailed the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu’s decision to establish a 13-member committee to review the curriculum for Kindergarten to Basic Six.
The minister, during the inauguration, explained that the review is not only a technical exercise but also a visionary step toward preparing children for the evolving and interconnected real world of work, which is full of both challenges and opportunities.
However, GNECC has emphasized the need for a thorough analysis of the existing curriculum to identify areas that require improvement.
Speaking to Adom News, the National Coordinator, Bernice Mpere-Gyekye, noted that previous reviews were incomplete, with some essential materials lacking to support students effectively.
Madam Mpere-Gyekye has, therefore, urged the government to build upon the existing curriculum, enhancing it to address persistent challenges, rather than introducing new changes that could lead to increased financial burdens.
The Coalition’s stance underscores the importance of a well-planned and sustainable approach to education reform.
The committee, composed of experienced individuals familiar with Ghanaās education system, is chaired by Professor Amina Plummer.
