Give our DCE another chance – Upper Denkyira Youth begs Nana Addo

-

The youth of Upper West Denkyira in the Central Region have pleaded with President Akufo Addo not to sack their District Chief Executive (DCE) for making certain comments that sought to justify the lynching of Captain Mahama.

Daniel Appianing responding to the gruesome murder of Captain Maxwell Mahama on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Tuesday claimed that the lynched Army Captain was the head of a team from the military which has been protecting illegal Chinese galamseyers in the area.

Mr Appiaing said he was unaware that the officer was part of a detachment to the area assisting in the fight against galamsey.

As far as he was concerned, the residents resorted to lynching because they assumed he was protecting some Chinese nationals who were engaged in galamsey.

“There is a large number of military personnel protecting the Chinese and the lynched soldier is alleged to be part of it, in fact, he is said to be the leader… I am shocked they are not briefing you very well but rather claiming they are here to fight galamseyers,” he said.

His comment which did not go down well with some members of the pubic have led to several calls for him to be sacked from his position.

Reacting to the calls on the same show on Thursday, the leader of the Concerned Youth of Upper West Denkyira, Richmond Kodua noted that in as much as the comments of the DCE  in the wake of the lynching of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama is distasteful, that should not be enough grounds to warrant his immediate dismissal.

“Yes, our DCE’s comments were in a bad taste, we agree but we urge Ghanaians to exercise patience so we find solutions to the problem at hand instead of calling for his head. We plead on his behalf that the President will give him another chance because that’s all we want now,” he said.
