The Ghana International School (GIS) has vowed to protect its property from any form of encroachment following an incident where an unknown individual attempted to seize the school’s land under suspicious circumstances.
Principal and Head of GIS, Frank Amponsah Mensah, told Citi News on Thursday, “We are unsure whether the person is claiming the property for himself or acting on behalf of someone, but who takes possession of property at 2 a.m.? At that hour, most people are asleep unless you’re a security guard or have bad intentions.”
He added, “You can’t enter someone’s property, open the gates, and order people to dump sand on it, then tell them to go to the police if there’s an issue.”
Mr. Mensah reaffirmed that the school will take all necessary actions to safeguard its property.
In response, the Office of the President denied any involvement in the land dispute with GIS.
On September 5, 2024, a statement was released, clarifying that the Office has no interest in the disputed land and has not instructed any officer or agent to interfere in matters related to the property in the Cantonments area.
