GHL Bank has entrenched its position as the country’s leading mortgage financing bank at the eleventh edition of the Ghana Property Awards where it ousted other nominees in the highly contested category to emerge ‘Best Mortgage Bank of the Year’.
The event was held on the 24th of November at the State House, Banquet Hall in Accra and saw over twenty awards conferred on trail-blazing companies within the real estate industry. The ceremony was a showcase of innovation, professionalism, and pro-activeness in Ghana’s outstanding companies; individuals and team players who have made a great contribution to Ghana’s real estate market.
GHL Bank remains the largest home loan provider in Ghana with over 50% market share of the mortgage industry. Since transitioning into a full universal bank in December 2017 it has opened branches in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Takoradi.
Kojo Addo-Kufuor, Executive Director of GHL Bank expressed the bank’s gratitude to all its loyal customers for their continued support throughout the years, saying, “we couldn’t have gotten this far without the trust and continued patronage of our customers. We dedicate this award to them and our hardworking staff.”
He added that although the bank now offers a range of banking services like retail, corporate and business solutions, it would continue to do what it does best, which is helping the first time home-buyers acquire accommodation by providing innovative and competitive mortgage products.
The bank has over 10 mortgage products including First Time Purchase Mortgage, Home Construction Mortgage, Home Completion Mortgage, Home Construction Mortgage, Equity Release Mortgage, Land Purchase Mortgage, and Refinance Mortgage, just to name a few. It also launched its flagship mortgage product earlier this year, Save-To-Own, which is the first of its kind on the market. The product allows non-salaried workers to qualify for a mortgage loan.
The bank also sponsored an award; The GHL Bank Best Architecture Design Firm award which was picked up by Altiers Ghana Limited.
The category was chosen by GHL Bank to promote and consider companies/firms who are ahead of the game in areas such as bespoke architectural, interior, exterior and outdoor designs. Exceeding the expectations of clients was also a key factor in deciding the winner of the category.
Irene Agyenkwa, Director, Ghana Property Awards commented on the relationship between the mortgage bank and the event saying: “The Ghana Property Awards is proud to have GHL Bank as a reliable partner. Since its inception as Ghana Home Loans, the bank has been a strong supporter of first-time homeowners and home infrastructure developers.”
Other award categories included Developers Awards, Design Awards, Development in Residential and Commercial Awards, Property Listing Awards, Mortgage & Financing and Special Recognitions. The theme for this year’s event was “Developing the economy through infrastructure”.
