GHL Bank supports school feeding programme

GHL Bank has reached out to children in deprived communities through the donation of exercise books and 10,000 bowls and for the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

GHL Bank has donated a significant quantity of exercise books and 10,000 bowls to the Ghana School Feeding Programme.  These items are to be distributed to deprived kids.

The move is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility mandate which seeks to supportdisadvantaged communities in and around areas the bank operates in.

Presenting the bowls to the organization, Mrs. Sylvia Adadey Supervisor for Corporate Communications and Brand Management at GHL Bank said, “Education and the wellbeing of children are areas the bank seeks to support as they are key to the development of the nation. We saw a dire need in this area as the programme struggles with distributing food to children due to logistical challenges such as lack of bowls”.

Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah was delighted and expressed her gratitude at the bank’s gesture by saying, “We are so excited about this donation and thank GHL Bank for catering to this need. The bowls will be distributed to selected schools in the Volta,Central, Ashanti and Greater Accra regions where they will go a long way toalleviate some of the operational hitches faced by some schools under the programme”.

She also calledon other corporate bodies to assist the programme, stating that no offer of help is too small.

The program was launched in 2005 with the goal of contributing topoverty reduction and increased food security in Ghana. The key objectives include malnutrition and hunger reduction for school children, increase inenrolment, attendance and retention and boost in domestic food production. Theseobjectives align closely with the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals(MDGs) surrounding hunger, poverty, and primary education.
