The Chancellor of the University of Gold Coast (UGC), formerly known as Accra Business School, Bishop Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei, has said that Ghana’s problem is leadership, not the lack of natural resources.
According to him, the country must train leaders who build or take action, not just leaders who speak.
The renowned leadership coach and motivational speaker made these remarks at the inauguration of new council members and the Board of Trustees.
“Ghana’s challenges are not due to a lack of natural resources but rather to leadership problems. The key to unlocking the country’s potential lies in effective leadership,” he stated.
Meanwhile, he reiterated the university’s commitment to empowering students, urging them to aim higher than merely seeking employment.
“Our mission is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to become entrepreneurs and job creators, not just job seekers. We want them to be the leaders and innovators of tomorrow,” he emphasized.
The Registrar of the university, Saviour Nyamadie, also shared his thoughts on the power of education.
“Education is not merely about financial gain; it is the key to unlocking the potential within each individual,” Nyamadie said.
He urged the youth to continue their educational pursuits, stressing that education is essential for personal growth and societal development. “I encourage the youth to strive for excellence, as education is the foundation for a brighter future,” he added.
