Ghana’s new ambulances to be tracked, fitted with tablets, digital address systems – Bawumia

-

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has revealed government’s plans to digitise newly acquired ambulances that will be distributed across Ghana as part of efforts to improve emergency response.

“We are making sure that we have an ambulance management system to manage these ambulances. So every ambulance is going to be uniquely tracked, fitted with tablets and with all the digital address systems,” he said.

Speaking at the 3rd Chamber Business Awards, Dr Bawumia gave the assurance that by the end of next month, the problem with identification of locations would be a thing of the past.

“By the end of next month, when you dial the 112 number, the Police, Ambulance or Fire Service will know exactly the digital address from which that call is coming,” he assured.

The first batch of ambulances for all 275 constituencies as part of government’s one constituency, one ambulance promise arrived in September 2019 in the build-up to the 2016 general elections.

As at now, 96 out of the 275 ambulances are currently in Ghana and parked at the State House, awaiting distribution.
