Ghanaian youngster set to join FC Barcelona from Accra Lions

FC Barcelona is on the verge of finalizing a loan signing of Ghanaian teenager David Oduro from Accra Lions.

The 18-year-old will join Barcelona’s famed La Masia Academy in Catalonia, where he’ll aim to impress and potentially earn a permanent transfer next summer.

This transfer makes Oduro the first player to move directly from Ghana to FC Barcelona, despite his start in the youth ranks.

Earlier this year, Oduro trained with English club Chelsea in hopes of securing a contract.

Oduro has been one of the standout young talents in Ghana, delivering impressive performances for Accra Lions.

He has featured in 15 of the 17 matches in the ongoing 2023/24 league season, scoring one goal in a 1-1 draw against Bibiani Gold Stars.

Before heading to Europe for trials, Oduro was a key player for Ghana’s U20 team under coach Desmond Ofei.
