Ghanaian weightlifter Marie Agba Hughes has outlined her ambitions for 2025, emphasizing her determination to compete in all required events as she works toward her ultimate goal—the 2028 Olympics in the USA.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite with Prof. E.K. Wallace, she stressed the importance of continuous competition to improve her performance and rankings.

“I would like to attend all the competitions I’m required to because my goal is to go to the 2028 Olympics. Before that, I need to compete in many events to keep progressing and improve my numbers,” she stated.

Hughes also highlighted the significance of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, noting that 2025 will be crucial for her qualification process.

“I need to attend qualifying events, perform my best, and secure a ranking that will ensure my place at the biggest stage,” she added.

Her determination underscores the hard work and dedication needed to compete at the highest level in weightlifting.
