The Management of Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has restored water supply to the Ho Municipality in the Volta Region after weeks of disruption caused by the breakdown of all three pumps at the Kpeve Water Abstraction Plant.
In a statement, GWL said its technical teams worked around the clock to restore operations within the stipulated 48-hour timeline, as part of the short-term solution outlined by Managing Director Adam Mutawakilu.
The company also implemented alternative measures, including the provision of tanker services to essential institutions, to mitigate the impact of the disruption.
“As part of GWL’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted water supply, two new pumps have been procured and are expected to arrive in the country by the end of March as a medium-term solution,” the statement noted.
The company emphasized that, in line with the government’s ‘Water for All’ vision, long-term strategies are in place to address the growing disparity between water demand and supply. These include plans to expand the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant to enhance production capacity.
Management assured the public of its continuous efforts to improve water service delivery and expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their patience and cooperation.
