A security expert at the University of Cape Coast, Dr Kingsley Adjei, has warned that Ghana was treading on slippery grounds when it comes to peace and security.
Dr Agyei’s comment comes in the wake of the violence that ensued during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Six people were shot at the Bawaleshie polling centre of the constituency with no deaths recorded which caused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) withdrew from the by-election.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show on Friday, Dr Agyei stated these signs were not good indicators for the country’s security.
“Ghana is threading on slippery grounds and gradually slipping into the jungle where the powerful do what they can and the weak suffer. This was how Boko Haram began likewise the Rwanda genocide,” he noted.

Dr Agyei, therefore, urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to up his game in dealing with the security issues of the country.
“The president assured us that such things will never happen but it did happen that same day he made that promise. But it will be a plus for the president if he is able to end vigilantism in his time. Politicians eat and drink together but create monsters on the street for the ordinary man to suffer.”
