Public Relations Officer for the VGMA Board has denied claims the outfit deliberately sidelined dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale from its awards.
According to Nii Ayite Hammond, the self-acclaimed dancehall kings did not submit entries.
He explained that, the first process is for the VGMA Board to conduct its own market survey and the second process is for the artist to submit entries for the nomination.
The PRO noted that, they have always listed Shatta Wale for nomination but the artist has never submitted entries which make it difficult for his nomination to be fully processed, he disclosed on Abusua FM.
“We are a professional body and don’t dwell on trivial issues with artistes,” he said.
“There are steps before an artist is nominated for awards…We conduct our research and put an artist up on the nomination list,” he explained.
“The other step is for the artist to also submit an entry for consideration and Shatta Wale has always made it into our market research but he never submitted any entry,” Nii Ayite Hammond added.
He had therefore called on Shatta Wale and his management to follow the processes involved in securing nominations promising, “if they follow the process and duly qualify, why not they shall get nomination and an award,”.
