The acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has called on party supporters rooting for particular candidates to be appointed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Executives (MMDEs) to exercise some restraint.
Some NPP Constituency executives across the country have since the handing over of power to the NPP been lobbying for some specific persons to be appointed as DCEs in their districts.
The lobbyists have openly maintained that their choices are the only persons they would want to work with adding that they worked tirelessly to bring the NPP to power.
Some of the lobbyists have even threatened naked demonstration against the President and the NPP party if they choices are not appointed.
Overwhelming numbers have also submitted their CV to various branches of the NPP to be appointed DCEs.
Reacting to these agitations on Adom TV’s Bedwam in Thursday, John Boadu said he believes in the fact that it is within the rights of the constituency executives to lobby for specific individuals.
“The constituency executives have the right to advise government because they must have a say in who is chosen to run the districts…,” he said.
He, however, warned that it was prudent for the constituency executives to also come to the realization that they can only advise the President but not have the final say.
“It’s solely an advice they have to offer and not stand and root for just one person…they ought to come to the realization that they can only advise the President which they would do…,” he said.
John Boadu further assured the party grassroots to relax since the ‘President would take a decision that would not be in the interest of the party.’
