A feud between the Sunyani Traditional Council and the Regional Minister designate, Asoma Cheremeh whose appointment by the President was being opposed by the Chiefs of the area, have now been put to rest.
Sunyani Traditional Council expressed reservations over the nomination of Mr Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh as the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister designate, and insisted they will not give Mr Asomah-Cheremeh their support should his nomination be approved by Parliament.
At a presser addressed by the Krontihene of the area, Nana Bofotia Boa Amponsem II, lately, the council accused the nominee of inciting the people against the authority of the chiefs and said it could, therefore, not collaborate with him if he became the regional minister.“While we cannot stop him from becoming a regional minister, what we are saying is that we cannot be part of his administration.
”Nana Amponsem stated, however, that the doors of the council were open for an amicable settlement of the misunderstanding existing between the council and Mr Asomah-Cheremeh, who is the current Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
But it is now clear that both parties have soften their stance and buried the hatchet, after a meeting held Tuesday, 14th February, 2017, at the Missions House of the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Sunyani, which also coincided with the Valentine Day celebration.
“Nananom have wholeheartedly forgotten and buried whatever happened between them and the New Patriotic Party before, during and after the 2016 General Elections,” a statement released by the special aide to the BRONG AHAFO REGIONAL MINISTER DESIGNATE, Maxwell MAHAMA said.
The two parties, according to the statement has therefore finally agreed to work in unity, peace and live in harmony for the common good of the area.
