Barring any last minute changes, a new Queen of the Asante Kingdom will be named this week to succeed the late Nana Afia Sewaah Kobi Ampem II who died in November last year.
The Manhyia Palace according to deep-throat sources will name 14th Asantehemaa to be spearheaded by Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II and his cabinet.
The thirteenth Queen was buried in accordance with the customs and tradition of the Asante Kingdom a fortnight ago with the Kokofuhemaa, Osagyefo Bayie chosen to act as Queen.
The Kokofuhemaa belongs to the Oyoko Clan who are the royals in Ashanti.
The Asantehene is expected to nominate a successor after the burial of his mother.
The announcement is set to happen within the next two weeks.
When a new Queen is enstooled, she will together with the Asantehene organize the final funeral rites of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II in a year’s time.
