Ghana News – Audio: Gender Minister condemns attack on alleged female ‘thief’

-

Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba has strongly condemned attacks on a woman alleged to have stolen an amount of money.

In a video circulating on social media, the mob who accused the young woman of theft, beat her up until she lost consciousness.

The disturbing video starts with the young lady been stripped of her clothes.

Another woman who offered her a dress was shoved off and the young lady was not allowed to put it on.

The mob made up mostly of men, spread her legs open. The attack on the lady has been widely confirmed.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Tuesday, Otiko Afisa Djaba said though her outfit do not condone any behavior that involves stealing, she cannot accept the manhandling of women in public.

According to the National Women leader of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), it is highly unacceptable and unprecedented in the history of Ghana to see a woman subjected such inhumane act.

“I am speechless and can’t comprehend why a woman would be subjected to such wicked acts. On behalf of the President and my outfit, I strongly condemn it and hope it never happens again,” she said.

She is convinced that through incessant prayers with God on the side of Ghana, every stubborn heart would be softened or humbled and people with evil intentions would be exposed to ensure peace and tranquility.

Madam Afisa Djaba encouraged Ghanaians to see themselves as one people with one destiny instead of attacking vulnerable women.

She charged the police to investigate the matter and bring perpetrators of the act to book.
