The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) is calling on government as a matter of urgency to pay all National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) arrears.
In a statement issued by GMA, it acknowledged NHIS as a social intervention in the health care financing has come a long way to improve well-being and healthcare seeking behaviour of Ghanaians.

However, it added the NHIA has failed to pay both private and public health facilities for services provided from March 2019 to date.
The statement disclosed the some facilities have threatened to withdraw services to NHIS card holders and the need for government to ensure all outstanding arrears are paid.
