Black Galaxies head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani says football in Ghana is currently undergoing a period of transition, which has affected his side.
His comments come after Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Black Galaxies were held to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the playoff, and they suffered a 3-1 defeat in the return leg at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
This setback adds to the nation’s misery, as Ghana will also miss the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Reflecting on the loss, Dramani said, “I think every team or country sometimes goes through a transition phase and I think we are currently in a transitional phase and these are lessons learnt in very good fate.”
He continued, “Sometimes we don’t like failure, but sometimes failures give us the right moment to reflect and bounce back on the right waves.”
Ghana had hoped to replicate their success from two years ago, when they triumphed over Nigeria with a 5-2 victory in a penalty shootout to secure a spot in the previous edition of CHAN in Algeria.
However, the home-based Super Eagles got their revenge, clinching the qualification for the tournament that will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania next year.
