The Ghana Football Association will convince Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah to return to the Black Stars team, vice President George Afriyie has confirmed.
Asamoah has been out of the senior National team for the past three years having asked for time off international duties.
The player who last made an appearance for the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil was left out of the team for the 2015 Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea after suffering an injury.
Having stayed out of action for close to a year, the 27-year-old excused himself from the National team in order to concentrate on Club football.
The Ghana FA will be making an attempt to persuade the former Udinese star to return to the Black Stars team.
“I know [previous coach] Avram Grant tried. Avram went to see Kwadwo on several occasions trying to convince him to come back,” George Afriyie told KweseESPN.
“He has gone through some turbulent times, injuries here and there, and all that. “Thankfully now he has recovered fully and is playing very well.
Let’s give the new coach [Kwesi Appiah] the chance to also try to get him back.
“Fortunately, he will be coming home and I will take that opportunity to talk to him and see if he is ready to come back.”
The Italian Serie A winner was left out of the Black Stars squad for next month’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia as well as the International friendly matches against USA and Mexico.
