Senior sports journalist, Owusu Bempah is optimistic Ghana can win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2019.
In his view, with a good team and winning mentality, Ghana can conquer African football.
Owusu Bempah made the comment on Asempa FM’s Ultimate sports show while reacting to former Black Star’s player’s assertion that Ghana cannot win the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
Samuel Osei Kufuor argue that, given the current crop of players, it will be difficult for Ghana to win the elections.
But Owusu Bempah vehemently disagreed with him and said Akwasi Appiah can lead his charges to victory come 2019.
“I do not believe Ghana will fail in 2019 like Osei Kuffour said. I believe with the right preparations we can conquer Africa again in Cameroon. We have twelve months ahead and if we put proper plan in place, we can win”
“Winning does not only depend on the players we have because Asante Kotoko in 1982 had the best crop of players but could not win the Champions League. The opponents we are likely to face are also a factor to consider”.
The Ghana Football Association upon the reappointment of coach Akwasi Appiah as head coach of the Black Stars tasked him to win the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
