The Ghana Association of Assembly Members is appealing to the Local Government Ministry to speed up the payment process for their ex-gratia.

At a press conference at Sehwi Essam in the Bia West District of the Western North Region, the National President, Frank Nelson Ackah said for the past seven months since the inauguration of the new Assembly, the government has not paid their ex-gratia.

He noted that, they are entitled to it in accordance with Section 11(2) of the Local Governance Act.

Additionally, GAAM proposes the establishment of an Electoral Area Fund for Assembly members, charged on the District Assembly Common Fund.

He stressed that, a law must be enacted to enable Assembly members to carry out developmental projects with strict auditing and supervision.

Among other things, Frank Nelson Ackah asked for monthly allowances and proper motorbikes for their members so that they could carry out their duties effectively.
